Some worship the god Kamadev, the Hindu god of love, people celebrate the day by remembering loved one and special friends. Other celebrate Basant Panchami by wearing yellow clothes to pay respect to mustard flowers (sarson ke phool). Some play by flying kites.
Basant Panchami name itself describes the festival, Basant means “Spring” and “Panchami” means “fifth day”, so Basant Panchami falls on the fifth day of spring.
